Overview

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded the Investing in Sustainability and Partnerships for Inclusive Growth and Regenerative Ecosystems (INSPIRE) Project to the Gerry Roxas Foundation on September 14, 2021. INSPIRE is a five year-project that aims to contribute to NRSG’s goal of advancing natural resource resilience, security, and governance through the increased participation and critical engagement of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), media, indigenous peoples (IPs), local communities, and the private sector.
As part of its goal to advance natural resource resilience and security through the increased participation and engagement of CSOs, media, academe, and local communities, INSPIRE supports the initiative of the Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) working group, comprised of DENR-FMB and various CSOs, in developing a database and to map out FLR initiatives in the Philippines to provide guidance to conservation organizations and funders on where to focus resources in terms of ecosystem restoration. FLR is a human-induced process that facilitates the natural regenerative processes of the environment. It is more than just planting trees. It is focused on ensuring landscapes’ multiple benefits such as better climate regulation, improved and erosion control, increased diversity of forest/non-forest and food/non-food products, and other economic opportunities for rural communities. Information on these initiatives that are available online has been gathered and reflected on this web map to provide an overview of where these projects have been active in the past decade.
Feel free to explore or contribute to the enrichment of FLR information by adding your own projects to this interactive map. The information you are sharing shall help provide insights on the current state of forest restoration which will support the development of a unified FLR agenda in the country.
